Wicked Good

If you haven't seen this October’s issue of W Magazine then you are missing out on this out-of-the-world fashion essay by esteemed photographer Tim Walker. The opening shot is jaw-dropping, as is all of his work. Now I want to wrap my house in hay & organza :)

Surf Style

We are well into summer now and I have been living in shorts for the most part, while working at home far away from in-person client meetings. Comfortable shorts that fit well, are edgy and modern are usually hard to find, and then I stumbled upon Shortomatic, 100% custom board shorts. A brilliant concept where you can design your own print design they print for you or choose from a vast gallery of great designs and order them up based on a custom fit chart. I prefer the longer boys style board short but they also now are offering a short board short for women as well. Here's your chance to express yourself with custom designs and a fantastic fit. Brought to you by the folks who created Yogamatic, custom printed yoga mats, another inspired idea!

Urban Textures

As a graphic designer, I've always been drawn to textures from nature and the urban landscape. This very cool minimalist wallet from Porte Monnaie has a chalk colorway with distress marks which I just am in love with! It's almost looks like concrete as well — made with locally sourced leathers, natural dyes and a high density polyethylene make it completely recyclable. Check it out here.

Fashion Forward

Another peek at the future from Chanel, the Perspex Briefcase. Also love what's going on with the fingerless gloves and things stuffed into them and of course still rocking those jade green nails. Interesting look & concept for a bag, Mr. Lagerfeld!

Bring on the Wrinkles

There is no doubt Muji is a wonderful thing and I continually hope they will open a store here in Los Angeles. At their shop in Times Square you can pick up this fabulous wrinkled t-shirt for $ 21.50!! They come compressed into a little cube and are such a close clone of Prada's spring wrinkled t-shirts, I'll be calling the store to hopefully get one shipped out. Muji Times Square (212) 382-2300 Photo: NY Times

Eco Revolution

This weekend Debra of Trend Agitator and I headed up to Malibu for a Valentine's Day soft opening of new boutique Revolution Malibu, tucked into a tiny cluster of shops across from Zuma Beach. The vision of infectiously energetic Cece Abel, this shop creates most of its merchandise from recycling, re-imagining, re-stitching and re-sewing materials into hats, t-shirts, silky tops, skirts, dresses, jackets and even a line of baby clothes that upon viewing, are instantly objects of desire. Everything she and partner Melissa Simpson do at Revolution Malibu is based on recycling, handmade, eco-friendly dyes and using local products. A huge inspiration are the techniques from the Alabama Stitch Book. For those of you out of the area, she will soon open an online shop but one can always call in orders to ship. I have to say that I've only been wearing my wool cap as seen above for two days and 4 people have asked where I got it and raved about how fabulous it is.

Culture Club

Global awareness, social responsibility and helping out charities benefiting impoverished communities throughout the world have become a part of our lives. Dr. Allan Bernstein, a working surgeon with a flair for fashion and a big heart is the vision behind Ethnicitee, a clothing line “inspired by passion, fueled by compassion and socially conscious through fashion.” The line of whisper-soft shirts celebrate the diversity of global cultures with designs inspired by postal stamps from around the world. The best part is 10% of Ethnicitee’s profits go to Charity: Water, a non-profit initiative bringing clean water to communities suffering from extreme poverty. No amount of medicine can help these communities without clean water, so basic, so important. Give a dual-purpose gift this holiday season. it just feels right.

Typography Couture

Thanks to SwissMiss I found these laser-cut micro fiber suede scarves at Little Factory—how clever a design and I think a great modern accessory. I like the uppercase ones the best although they also come in just numbers for all you math nuts and lowercase letters as well.
